Why Swimmers Love VXA: What Our Customer Reviews Say

We make one thing: a men’s unlined competition swim brief. Over the past three years, swimmers have left more than 60 reviews on our product pages, averaging 4.9 out of 5 stars. We read every one. Here are the reasons that come up again and again, in our customers’ own words.

1. A fit that stays put, set after set

The most common thing swimmers notice is what doesn’t happen: no sagging, no shifting, no water pooling in the seat. That comes from the contoured rear seam and the internal drawstring, which together lock the brief in place through dives, turns and push-offs.

“I swim 5 days per week, and have yet to experience any issues with the suit sagging or not staying in place.”

— A three-time VXA customer

“I like the seam in the back because there is no sagging.”

— Jack

2. Unlined means lighter, more comfortable and faster drying

Most swim briefs add a front liner. Ours don’t, and swimmers consistently say it’s the reason they switched. No liner means less bulk, less friction and a suit that dries in minutes instead of staying damp in your bag.

“It is lightweight, dries quickly and is very comfortable. This is the best swim brief I have ever purchased.”

— rodk

“The unlined front provides significantly greater comfort than lined suits while also enabling the suit to dry extremely fast.”

— Mike, daily 3,000–4,000m swimmer

3. Freedom to move

Every VXA brief has 1¼-inch sides. Wide enough to stay flat without rolling, narrow enough to leave your hips free through every kick.

“These suit’s 1.25 inch sides are the exact perfect width… Not too wide, as to hinder movement… but not too narrow, which can contribute to undesirable roll and gathering.”

— Steve

4. A Japanese-inspired cut you can’t easily find in the U.S.

The low-rise, narrow-side racing brief is everywhere on pool decks in Japan but hard to buy here. That’s the gap VXA was started to fill, and our Vector Series adds bold, angular color-blocking in 9 colorways.

“VXA offers a very unique competition swim brief that is ubiquitous in Japan but very hard to get in the US – that is, until VXA came along.”

— Mike, repeat customer

“Great fit as ever and love the new styles.”

— wbc2591, repeat customer

5. Real people who help you get it right

We’re a small brand, and when you email us, a real person answers. More than one reviewer mentions that we helped them choose a size before they ordered.

“The great customer service rep helped me find the right size.”

— Steve

The one thing to know before you order: sizing

Earlier reviews often say our briefs “run small.” We listened: our sizes are now numbered 26 to 36 (S to XXXL) and line up with standard competition brief sizing, so if you wear a 30 in Speedo briefs, a VXA 30 is your starting point.

  • Measure 2 inches below your navel, where a racing brief’s waistband sits, not at the narrowest part of your waist.
  • For racing, choose your chart size. For a more relaxed training fit, go one size up.
  • Between two sizes? Choose the larger one.

For reference, our model is 5’9″, 152 lbs with a 31″ waist and wears a 30. Jack, also a 31″ waist, went one size up to a 32 and says it “fits perfectly.” The full chart is on our Sizing & Fit page.

Still unsure? Email info@vxasports.com with your waist, hip and usual swim brief size, and we’ll recommend a size before you buy.
